Toni Payne Tells Journalis, 9ice Is The First Guy I Had Genuine Love For” …

Wow! We won't say Toni can't still get over 9ice after their controversial divorce, but when you truly love someone, you love to talk about the person at any given opportunity. Here is what she said in an interview she had few days back.

Why did you marry 9ice? So many people were of the view you were taken by his fame…
When I met him, he wasn’t that popular. I met him before the stardom. He was somebody whose personality I liked. It didn’t have anything to do with his being a celebrity. I saw a person I liked. I didn’t look at his status. I would say he was the first guy I was ever really in love with.

Was he your first boyfriend?
No. he wasn’t. But he was the first guy I had genuine love for.

COOL.
TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES.

Glo to cease sponsorship of ‘Naija Sings’, as winners fade away

Winners of the GLO Naija Sings Season 1, 2, 3: Jon Ogah, Casey Edema, Christian Doherty
Globacom has ceased sponsorship of the television music reality show ‘Naija Sings’, putting its weight, instead, behind the debuting Nigerian version of the international music reality show, X-Factor.
The telecoms company was the title sponsor of all the three editions of Glo Naija Sings which saw winners emerge with mouth-watering prizes and enough money to launch a music career.
Globacom and the show’s broadcast company, M-NET headed by Biola Alabi signed a three-year sponsorship deal for Naija Sings with production handled by Nevermachine Entertainment.
According to information on Globacom’s website, the show was ‘aimed at discovering, developing and rewarding Nigeria’s brightest and boldest musical talents’, but it seems the objective has not been thoroughly been met.
Globacom is known to support a wide array of entertainment programmes including; the annual Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu-Ode and the Ofala festival in Onitsha; CNN International’s weekly half-hour magazine programme, ‘African Voices’; the Glo-CAF Awards, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Ghana’s Black Stars, Nigerian Football League, Glo International Half Marathon and a series of other events and shows.
With the unveiling, two weeks ago, of the company’s sponsorship of X-Factor, it became glaring that speculation about cracks in the relationship with Naija Sings were correct.
No official comments yet from Globacom as officials told a NET correspondent to write and submit a proposal as regards the inquiry before an audience will be granted.
A rep who refused to give a name later told our reporter over the phone that Glo’s actions were based on the contractual agreement earlier agreed upon by the parties involved.
‘We had a three-year contract with the M-NET, and it’s just normal for the parties to either renew the contract or not. It is purely business and it doesn’t have anything to do with how the show has fared’, the rep said.
Some insiders however told us it’s likely the sponsorship contract was not renewed because of poor ratings. Despite the big budget and support of the telecoms company, and the involvement of big names like Denrele, Darey, Olisa Adibua and others, the show repeatedly recorded low viewership and followership within the Nigerian audience compared to other competitions like the Project Fame and Nigerian Idol.
And critics continuously condemned the format – a tricky model which lets studio guests assess and analyse contestant performances.
Meanwhile, not much has been heard of the show’s finalists and winners.
Spokesperson for Multichoice, Segun Fayose, who insisted on an email correspondence, didn’t respond to our emails as at press time.
Abayomi Awelewa, an executive at MNET’s PR agency XLR8, tells NET he has no idea why the show ceased.
‘Globacom and Multichoice will be in the best position to answer some of these questions. We were just consultants to them, and up till this moment we are fully not briefed as to why the show has been discontinued’, Awelewa told us Sunday night.
OAP Olisa Adibua, who participated in all three editions of the show as a host and later as a judge also says he has no information. ‘It’s been over a year now and I have no knowledge of the whereabouts of each of the winners. I suppose they are out there still trying to break even in the industry just like every other up-coming artiste.’
The show’s first edition was held in 2009 with John Ogah (Jon O) emerging its first winner, carting away a prize money of $100, 000 and brand new SUV.
NET gathered that Ogah has since moved abroad using his prize money to pursue an education in the US.
Season two winner, Casey Edema (Casey Ed) after releasing a few singles and an album under the management of Storm 360, fizzled out into oblivion from a career that had barely started.
‘Glo and I still have a working relationship but purely professional, that’s all I can say for now. Concerning what I have been up to, I have been trying to put my music in order for a re-launch because I’m working with an entirely new team right now and hopefully soon, we would unveil the new package ’ Casey said when NET reporters contacted him.
Then came 36-year old Christian Doherty (CeeDee) who won the last edition. He was awarded an ambassadorial position by the telecoms company, but has not been able to break-through even with the release of two singles, ‘Dem Go Know Me’ and ‘Sumomi Dada’.
When NET contacted a former host of the show, Darey Art Alade for comments, he had this to say, ‘I was just a host on the show. I cannot exactly speak on the impact that the show has had or the why it’s been difficult for the winners to find a feet in the music industry. The music industry in Nigeria is a very complex one and it’s very difficult to break through except with hardwork and dedication.’
Understandably, not many winners of reality shows have actually been able to break into the industry and become mega stars as expected, but compared to the other shows, Glo Naija Sings has not fared well at all which is possibly one of the reasons why Globacom would want to adopt the more globally recognized X-Factor.
Project Fame has two winners doing incredibly well: Iyanya and Chidinma, as well as one finalist, Praiz. Idols has Omawumi and Timi Dakolo to thank, even though Yeka Onka and Mercy Chinwo are also making minor impressions.
Will X-Factor go the way of these two, or fail to deliver the goods like Naija Sings?
Pundits say only time will tell.
We could not immediately confirm if MNET has decided to rest the show for good, or will soon be shopping for sponsors seen Glo has jumped into bed with a new lover.

I Cheated On My Husband-To-Be Three Months To My Wedding

My wedding is slated for this year. The invitations are already out and everything has been booked. We have even paid for the venue.

Until last month, everything was going well for me. I honestly thought I loved my husband-to-be with all my heart and no man could ever come between us. But how wrong the projection of my life is turning out to be. A chance meeting with my first love after about 16 years is what is threatening my well-planned life.

I honestly didn’t plan for this to happen but every woman who has been in love before knows what it feels like to meet the first man in her life after a long time of separation. Though he left me for my best friend, at the time we met, all those details didn’t matter. One thing led to another and we ended up in bed. It brought back all the wonderful memories of all those wonderful times we had before my friend came between us.

I discovered that he is divorced after two children with my friend who according to him now lives in England. According to him, he decided to come home after being away for such a long time to attend to his father’s business. He wants us to begin again. He has apologised to me and I am tempted to take him back because I feel good being with him. I haven’t told anyone about him because I know nobody will ever support me.

I am 38 and have been so lucky to find my current boyfriend who is 45 and widowed. He has been my pillar of support and truly shows extra-ordinary love and kindness towards me and my family. But this is about my love life; my happiness. I am so confused about what is happening to me. My current relationship is three years old while my first love and I go back a long way.

Please help me because I don’t know how to tackle what I feel for my first love

FA had to let Aguero off - Platt

Manchester City first-team coach David Platt says he is not surprised Sergio Aguero escaped retrospective punishment for his dangerous tackle on Chelsea defender David Luiz.
Aguero launched into an ugly foul on Luiz towards the end of City's 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday in their FA Cup semifinal.
However, because referee Chris Foy witnessed the incident, awarding a free-kick against Aguero, the Football Association could not reassess the tackle using video replays.
"I wasn't surprised, based on the rules that the FA have put in place," Platt said on Tuesday.
"If the officials have seen it and the precedent has been set, I am not surprised. The rules are the rules. We don't make them up, we just adhere to them."
Platt denied that Aguero was fortunate, saying: "I don't know whether it is a bit of luck. What is luck? I'm not sure really. The situation has gone. I am not surprised that he got off, because the officials saw it."
Meanwhile, Platt says City are focused on finishing the Premier League season strongly.
The reigning champions face Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night in the league, but with leaders Manchester United 15 points ahead, the defence of their title is all but over.
/ They still have a chance to win a trophy, when they face Wigan again in May in the FA Cup final, but Platt says the focus must be on the league first.
"I don't think the pressure is off because it is still on to win matches," he said. "The pleasing thing is that in the last two games (Manchester United and Chelsea), against very good opposition, we have performed.
"Rather than dramatise the situation, it is about finishing the season as strong as we can. Hopefully we can win the FA Cup. We still have to play a good team."
Micah Richards could make a return to action at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a knee problem that has kept him out since October.
The England international has made just four appearances this season.
"Micah has been training with the team for 10 days, two weeks, and he has played a couple of reserve games," Platt said.
"He is available for selection. Whether he would get through 90 minutes, I don't know, but I would hazard a guess he will be involved in the squad. It is pleasing to have Micah back."
David Silva remains doubtful, however, having missed the Chelsea game with a hamstring problem picked up in City's 2-1 win at United last week.
"I think if we had pushed, we probably could have got him ready for Wigan, but it would be a risk," said Platt.
"We will probably be pragmatic and think (he will need) a full week's training under his belt. If the game at the weekend had been the last of the season, we might have taken a risk, but it would be a big risk. If he does play against Wigan, the weekend becomes a bigger risk."
Despite the fact the sides will face each other again in the cup final, Platt believes the clash with Wigan will not be similar to the Wembley fixture.
"Each team has four or five games before the final," he said. "Four or five games is far too much to have a correlation. We will have them watched and analysed. From May 1 we will have them analysed again."

Abramovich, gets seventh child

Chelsea FC of England owner, Roman Abramovich, could as well pass for trying to raise his own 11-man football team as the Russian billionaire became a father for the seventh time when his girlfriend gave birth to a daughter in a New York hospital.
The latest addition to the Abramovich dynasty comes from the billionaire’s socialite girlfriend, Dasha Zhukova, who back in December 2009 had the first child for the Chelsea owner christened Aaron Alexander Abramovich.
Abramovich, ranked by Forbes magazine as the 50th richest person in the world, already has five children: two sons and three daughters with his second wife Irina Malandina.
An insider confirmed to the Daily Mail that Abramovich was physically present by his girlfriend’s bedside at the time of the baby’s delivery. “Mother and daughter are doing fine. Roman is, of course, delighted,” the source added.
With the Premier League title now out of sight and Sunday’s FA CUP ouster of his darling team, Chelsea, Abramovich will be hoping to celebrate the arrival of his daughter with the Europa League title which Chelsea are well positioned to win having been handed underdogs FC Bassel in the semi final.

20 year-old Nigerian Man Marries 78-year-old White Grandmother because of Green crad and money

It seems the desire to get a “by-fire-by-force green card” has blinded so many that these kind of stories have now become the norm in Nigeria.

Or how else does one explain why a 20 year old man would bring home a grandmother for a marriage without even the elderly in his family berating him?

There could be hundreds of people relying on the power lines he attempted to steal and because of him the power was cut off, now they were unable to cook for their kids or do work that earns them a living. All because someone who couldn’t be bothered to earn money with honest work decided to climb on a utility pole and steal the wiring for himself.

Luckily, in this case instant Karma was in the neighborhood and zapped him. He was found guilty, sentenced and executed by electric chair all in one instance.
