Error On JAMB Form Made Me Study Fashion Design –AY’s Brother, Yomi Casual

Celebrity designer, Yomi Makun popularly known as Yomi Casual, tells Ademola Olonilua about his life and his brand

How did you get into fashion designing?
Professionally, I have been in the industry for about eight years. Fashion is not something I really wanted to do. I am an artist. I do a lot of paintings, drawings and the rest. It was all a mistake. It’s not like I really planned it. When my sister was filling my JAMB form then, she mistakenly wrote Fashion Designing instead of Fine and Applied Arts. That was how I found myself in fashion in Auchi Polytechnic. It was not easy at first because people did not appreciate fashion then. You could not really tell your friends that you were studying fashion in school. I used to find it difficult to tell my friends that I gained admission into school and this is what I am studying. I sneaked in and sneaked out. All they just knew was that I was in school, they did not know what I was studying.
Do you have any regrets?

A Woman found alive 16 days after factory collapse, see how good god his .

A woman was pulled alive Friday from the ruins of a garment factory complex in Bangladesh more than 16 days after it collapsed and killed over 1,000 people.

The miraculous rescue came shortly after emergency officials announced that the woman called Reshmi had been located under the rubble of the nine-storey Rana Plaza complex after crying out for help.
She was found sheltering in the ruins of a basement mosque.
Rescuers cheered loudly as she was carried to an army ambulance, managing a faint smile at the crowds who had gathered.
The country’s fire service chief told AFP that the woman appeared to have had access to water during her marathon ordeal trapped underneath the wreckage of the nine-storey Rana Plaza complex, which had caved in on 24 April.
“She has been located in a gap between a beam and a column. Her name is Reshmi. She may have reserves of water or have drunk some of the water that we’ve pumped into the building,” Ahmed Ali told AFP.
One of the rescuers said that the woman had cried out for help as recovery teams sifted through the wreckage in the town of Savar on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.
“As we were clearing rubble, we called out if anyone was alive,” the unnamed rescuer told a private TV channel.
“Then we heard her saying ‘please save me, please save me’.”
Another rescuer said that the woman had had access to food supplies for the first fortnight of her ordeal but had run out two days ago.
“She said she has not eaten for the last two days. She said she has eaten some dried food like biscuits,” said the rescuer.

R.I.P: Mast Crushes Man To Death In Lagos

A man died in Lagos yesterday Friday 10th of May after he was crushed to death by a mast which fell off a 2-storey building.

The man, a 52-year old roadside trader identified as Adeolu Adeleke had reportedly gone to protect his wares from the heavy rain and winds but was crushed by the mast as he made his way back to his shade.

One of the people who witnessed the incident and a very close friend of the deceased said Adeleke, also known as Baba Ibeji, was warned not to enter the rain because of the strong wind but he refused. “I told him to forget about the goods since the wind was blowing strongly, but he said he would hurry down there quickly not knowing that he will not return,” he said.
