Tafa Balogun’s Kinsmen Want Presidential Pardon for the Former IGP too in

Tafa Balogun

Indigenes of Ila-Orangun, the home town of former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, have urged President Goodluck Jonathan to pardon their son, Tafa. The people have called on the president to extend state pardon to the former IGP, saying his conviction was political.
The Osun State Chairman of the defunct Justice Party, Mr. Adesoji Adeleke, made this known on Friday. Adeleke, who hails from Obalogbo’s compound, Oke-Jigbo, in Okomo Ruling House, Ila-Orangun, said it was wrong of the Federal Government to leave out Balogun in the state pardon.
According to him, “We are contacting all Ila parapo on Sunday with a view to knowing what next step to take on the issue. His travail is not unconnected with the politics of succession at that time… Is the pardon of a former Governor of Bayesla State, Dieprieye Alamieyesiegha, the sole reason why President Jonathan extended the pardon to some other select individuals? Osun too deserves to enjoy the pardon. We trust that the President will extend the pardon to Balogun.”
Another resident of Ila, Group Captain Raimi Ogunbunmi, also called on Jonathan to pardon Balogun, saying the era of the former IG witnessed unprecedented development in the police force. Explaining that Balogun was a ‘victim of circumstance,’ Ogunbunmi, said it was wrong to jail Balogun at the time.

Post titleFather accused of raping all his daughters and granddaughter

A seven-year-old girl (name withheld), has accused her 49-year-old father of rape.

The girl said her father, Sylvester Ehijele, had on numerous occasions had sex with her, adding that he used to promise to buy her goodies and toys before the actions.

She said he usually had sex with her on a daily basis whenever her mother was not home.

She said, “Whenever my mum is not at home, he grabs me, forces his hand over my mouth and then inserts his penis into my private part. He promises to buy me a car, cake and biscuit but he doesn’t buy anything for me.

“He also threatens to use a knife to gouge my eyes out anytime I threaten to report to my mother.”

Sylvester’s wife, Margaret, told Uwillcgossip.com that he (Ehijele) also raped their 23-year-old daughter when she was much younger and recently, he raped their one-year-old granddaughter that lives with them.

She said, “I am a caterer. In 2006 I went to Abuja for a catering job where I spent five days. But at about 1am, my first daughter, who was about 17-years-old at the time, called me on the phone crying that her father raped her that night.

“When I returned, I confronted him but he beat me up and he continued to molest our daughter and each time I confronted him, it earned me a beating. I had no choice but to leave him when I got fed up with seeing him molesting our daughter and later sleeping with me. I took my six children and we relocated.”

She said in 2011, Sylvester’s family settled their differences and urged the couple to reconcile for the sake of the children.

She said her husband swore never to touch any of his daughters again and she reluctantly returned to her husband’s house.

Margaret said she was however disappointed to find out that less than a year after moving in with her husband, he went back to his old ways.

She said, “We reconciled in May 2011 and I really thought he had changed but in August last year, I caught him in a compromising situation with our seven-year-old daughter. I called her out and she told me how her father had constantly been abusing her.

“Again, I confronted him and he beat me up. I had to pick my daughter and ran to his brother’s house, where I stayed for three days before I went back home.”

Mrs. Ehijele said she continued to cope with her husband’s ways until he finally raped their 15-month-old granddaughter.

She said, “Because my oldest daughter works, we decided to put her daughter baby at a day care in Ejigbo. I have always been the only one that brings her back at 6pm everyday from the day care. But on that particular day, my husband went to the day care and after an altercation with the teacher, he took the baby home.

“He took the baby home and hours later the baby was crying profusely. When I got home, the baby was still crying and I wondered what was wrong. When I finally took off her diapers so I could bathe her, I noticed she was bleeding in her private part. When I raised the alarm, my husband was unnerved. That was when I suspected him.

“I rushed down to the Ejigbo Police Station and reported the matter.”

Margaret said she had been married to the suspect for over 23 years and lamented that he had had carnal knowledge of all their daughters.

“I have two daughters, four sons and a granddaughter. Sadly, my husband has raped all of the females,” she said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the suspect would soon be charged to court on charges of defilement.

“The suspect is in the habit of sleeping with his daughters and now his granddaughter. We have the doctor’s report which shows that the girls have been defiled,” she said.

A copy of medical report issued by the Isolo General Hospital reads in part that, “The vaginal hymens of the girls are no longer intact.”

Sylvester however denied the allegation, adding that it was his wife that poisoned his daughters’ minds against him.

He said his wife left him initially because he had refused to pay her dowry.

He said, “If I was the one that raped them, let me die. My wife and I were separated for four years and it was because her family said I hadn’t paid her bride price. After we reconciled, she told my daughters to tell lies against me in order to disgrace me.

“Even my oldest daughter confessed to my family that I never raped her and that it was my wife that told her to lie.”

When quizzed about the medical report, Sylvester said it was not authentic.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo (ACN)
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has said it has uncovered a plan by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state to use a group, the Neighbourhood Watch, to rig the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, made this known on Tuesday, during a campaign in Auchi, ahead of the local government election slated for April 20. He said the party had uncovered plots by the state government to buy uniforms and arms for members of the vigilance group to use for the election.
His words: “The PDP has uncovered a plot by the Adams Oshiomhole-led ACN government to deplore members of the Neighbourhood Watch to intimidate, harass and obstruct members of the PDP from casting their votes during the forthcoming election… Our informant also disclosed that the state government has bought large ammunition for the group to be used on the Election Day,” he alleged.
Orbih further disclosed that the state PDP had written a letter to the state Commissioner of Police, to inform him about the plot, adding that “it is our belief that the Neighbourhood Watch and other bodies formed by the state government for the purpose of rigging the council election are not known to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Pet monkey detained after biting woman

A monkey that was held in California illegally as a pet is now in quarantine after biting a woman.

The Javan macaque caused serious injuries to the hands and arms of the victim, the local newspaper reported. The monkey was kept in Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County.

Eric Anderson, the director of County Animal Services, said it received a notice on the bite. He said the Javan macaque can inflict bites, like dogs.

"This type of animal is not intended to stay in a private home. This is illegal," said Anderson. "It lived on a diet that included Frosted Flakes and juice. It is strongly discouraged to feed this food to any animal, and it is totally the wrong kind of diet."

The monkey will be quarantined for 60 days at the zoo For You, a rescue operation.

In a similar case that caught national attention, a chimpanzee ripped off the face of a woman. The woman survived the attack and underwent a full face transplant.

Jay-Z Gives Hip-Hop Tribute To Beyonce In New Track With Kendrick Lamar!!!

Jay-Z wants his fans to know the Carters are on top of the world. Days after his wife Beyonce made mention of their marriage in her latest track, Bow Down, the rapper is rhyming about his wife of four years in a hip-hop tribute.   ‘Up in the clouds, me and my spouse/Rumours on the ground gettin’ too loud,’ he spits in Kendrick Lamar’s remixed hit B**** Don’t Kill My Vibe.

The title is hardly a romantic indication of the musician’s love for his other half, but follows on the heels of Beyonce’s own reference to her husband in her own offering released this week, entitled Bow Down/I Been On. Her three minute, 34 second clip includes the lines: ‘I took my time to live my life/But don’t think I’m just his little wife/Don’t get it twisted/This is my s***/Bow down b******’.
While the braggadocious new track addresses her absence from the music industry and asserts her authority as Queen Bee of the charts, following the birth last year of her now 14-month-old daugter, Blue Ivy. Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, and Beyonce have slowly become more open about their relationship following their 2008 nuptials.

The singer last month premiered her HBO documentary Life is but a Dream, which featured behind-the-scenes footage from her performances and private video diaries including exerpts about her marriage and motherhood. The star recently revealed she is ‘surprised’ by how much she has learnt from her daughter, and can’t believe how much being a mother has changed her view of herself and given her a ‘real purpose’.
The 31-year-old star told the April issue of Shape magazine: ‘I just adore being a mother, hearing her say ‘Mama’ and call me when she needs something. It makes me feel like I have a real purpose here. I enjoy all the things people warned me would be tough to handle.

Real Life Story: Indian Hair Haunts TV Presenter In Her Dreams

I grew up hearing stories about weave-on and attachments, and how connected they may be to marine spirits. In fact, I heard at a time that they import them from the base of the marine goddess…wherever that is. I smiled at my ignorance when I grew up to know their origin.

People got tired of the good old weave-on and attachments, and fell in love with the human hair. I read an article not too long ago about an Indian who goes back home to cut from the long hairs of female Indians to sell in Nigeria. Never did we know what the repercussions of using the human hair could be.

An Abuja based TV producer/ presenter, blogger, and MD/CEO of Rayzeds Media, Rachel Edjeren, shared some days back on her blog about the day she was chased in a dream by the Indian hair she fixed. Read her story below:

indian hair

“My sister in-law came to pray with me last two years. She said she was experiencing ill luck during the week–so many nasty things happening to her.

I prayed with her and the Spirit led me to ask her what hair she had on, she said Indian. I was led to tell her to remove it and not give out but pray and burn it. She obeyed and things went back to normal. Sometime after that, my hubby and I watched a documentary on how ladies in India sacrifice their hair to the gods if they have nothing else worthy to sacrifice.

My husband likes human hair. So even though I like my full dreadlocks kind of hairstyles, I give him what he likes most times. I have done brazilian and Peruvian hair so thought to try something different and more natural which is Indian hair.

Last weekend I ordered for it and made it. Prayed on it and believed it was fine. Yesterday night (March 14, 2013) I had the strangest of dreams. I saw that I made a hair that allowed me to pack it thus project my face and make it look slimmer. All of a sudden, I got into a scuffle with 3 people who began to chase me all over the place to kill me. I got off from them narrowly and ran into a market. There, a mad man began to chase me.

I escaped him narrowly then 2 Molester-thugs came after me. All the while, I felt I was carrying someone else’s face.

I ran into a house with people praying. The lady in charge there looked at me and showed me a picture of myself with my regular synthetic dread-like hair and said “but that is your regular look, why are you carrying someone else’s face. Then from nowhere another lovely lady came from outside, drew me to the corner and began to ask me about my look. She said “you are having problems with your hair right?” Whilst she was talking, I noticed something in her mouth; a bowl of cowries and the face of a Benin god. I looked closer and asked her what it was and why she had it.
She said her man likes her because of that decor in her mouth—cowries and the face of a god like a shrine in one’s mouth? She also said that she is comfortable and that it’s beautiful.

I woke up and prayed and immediately understood what the message was but didn’t want to let go of my cute human hair that cost so much. I decided to ask my husband because he interprets dreams accurately.

He immediately told me to remove the hair. At the same time, the Spirit told me to cut it off and not remove it gracefully because it tried to bring me shame and pain.

Cut it off, anoint your head, anoint and pray on the hair to refute all ill and do not just throw it away but BURN IT. I obeyed.

I have decided to only carry my natural hair or synthetic hair.

This is because the Bible says; “The hair is the woman’s crowning glory”. Carrying another’s is like carrying the other person’s spirit. The worst is even Indian. Nothing wrong with Indians; they are beautiful and we love them especially in films but those hairs sold are sacrifices to gods. Thus, they are cursed.”

This may mean nothing to you, and to another person, it may be an eye opener. Whatever it is to you, I believe there’s always a lesson to learn in other people’s experiences. Be wise.

Labour, others warn Jonathan against fuel price hike

Organised labour  and two opposition parties on Wednesday warned President Goodluck Jonathan against another petrol price hike.

They said in their  reactions to Jonathan’s statement on Tuesday that petrol price would go up, that  he (the President)  would be courting  trouble if he did so.

The Federal Government had in January 2012 increased  petrol price from N65 per litre to N141 per litre. But following protests  that greeted the action, the goverment  made a  U-turn by reducing  it to N97 per litre. Petrol, however,  still sells  above N110  per litre in some parts of the country, especially the  South-East.

Jonathan, at the  Nigeria  Summit in Lagos on Tuesday,  said  his administration would still remove fuel subsidy after due consultations with Nigerians.

He  had said, “We cannot continue to waste resources meant for a greater number of Nigerians to subsidise the affluent middle class, who are the main beneficiaries(of fuel subsidy).”

But the  two major  labour  groups  in the country –  the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress – reminded the President that the opposition by majority  of their members and  other Nigerians to fuel subsidy removal had not changed.

A Deputy President of the NLC, Chief Promise Adewusi , spoke for the congress while the Secretary -General of the TUC, Mr. Musa Lawal, spoke for the  trade union  in separate telephone interviews with our correspondents.

The NLC   called on Jonathan  to drop the plan  which it  insisted would deepen the suffering of several members of organised labour and  other Nigerians who are not  part of  “the affluent middle class .”

It  said that even though it  did not know the form the consultations the President spoke about would take, it had a position that  fuel price increase was inimical to the well-being of Nigerians.

The congress  said that its opposition to fuel subsidy removal could only change if Nigerians took a decision to embrace suffering.

The NLC said, “We  have a subsisting position on the issue of the removal of the fuel subsidy. Our position is that the issue of fuel increase is something that Nigerians cannot live with; The President should drop it.

“We do not know the mode of the  consultations that the Federal Government  intends  to take. However, unless Nigerians decide to swallow hardship, then it could happen. Our  disagreement is not just to disagree but because of our members, and other Nigerians who we feel will suffer from  an increase in fuel price.

“They want to consult with Nigerians; and you can see that they are going beyond labour.  Let us wait;  maybe  there is going to be a referendum or a plebiscite so that it would not be as if you are fighting the removal when the people you are fighting for are supporting it.

“Let us wait for the modality for the consultations.

On its part, the  TUC said the joint position of organised labour on subsidy removal had not changed.

It said, “The two labour centres have the same position on it and it has not been reviewed and it is still the same thing.”

One of the three major opposition parties , the All Nigerians Peoples Party, said Jonathan  would see the wrath of Nigerians if he increased the price of petrol again.

The  party said through its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Emma Eneukwu, that the  President would know that Nigerians are not docile.

Though the ANPP  said it was unthinkable for anyone to  contemplate  hiking fuel  price now, it however remarked that there was nothing beyond the President.

It  said, “We don’t think that the President will do that again going by what happened when he did that the other time. Maybe his time has come to see the wrath of Nigerians fully. He will see it if he does that.

“Nigerians are waiting for him and if he wants to see their red eyes, let him do it. He  wants to contest in 2015 and he won’t stop making life difficult for the people he wants to govern.  That is wickedness.”

The party  said before such an action could be taken, the President should know that he needed to gauge the mood of the nation.

“Is it with this insecurity or high level of unemployment that calls for more punishment?” it  asked.

The party advised  Nigerians to be on the lookout  for  any move by the government “as it could go out to do that without their knowledge.”

Also, the Congress for Progressive Change berated Jonathan  for making such a statement when, Nigerians were still mourning bomb blasts victims in Kano.

Describing the President as “uncaring,” the CPC said since he  had once  said he did  not give a damn;   Nigerians should expect anything from him.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, in an interview with one of our correspondents, added, “The President does not give a damn. Even if Nigerians masses that are already pauperised   are mangled.

“Even if the country moves into anarchy, the President does not give a damn. Is it not totally out of place that you have a situation where there is no welfare Nigerians are getting from their own government?

“When Nigerians are still mourning over the bombing that took place in Kano, this government is thinking of how to further add to their sorrow.

“That is President Jonathan in his true element. A man that is anti-people and does not care about  what happens to the people he claims elected him.

On  its part,  the Campaign for Democracy said  the President was courting another “Occupy Nigeria protest.”

“What would be his undoing is the fire this time around . He is shielding subsidy thieves, pardoning criminals but bullying Nigerian people. Maybe he needs the final lesson from the suffering people of Nigeria,”the CD said through its President,  Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin.

NYSC DG Denies Allowance Increment For Corps Members

NYSC-DG--360x225

Over the last few days unconfirmed reports flying around indicated that the Federal Government may have increased ‘Corpers Allawee’ to around N38,000 from N19,800 but Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Nnamdi Okore Affia yesterday dashed any such hopes as he said there is no plan to increase the corps members’ monthly allowance.
Addressing the 2013 Batch A corps members deployed to Katsina State, General Affia said “to be honest with you there is no plan to increase your monthly allowance; all you have heard is nothing but rumours.
“If there is such plan I must be the first person to know but as far as I am concerned there is no official plan to increase your allowance; even if the plan is on the pipeline, it has not reach my level. Your monthly allowance is still N19, 800,” he stressed.
Genral Affia then urged the corps members to respect the religion and culture of their host community, saying “you should understand very well the dos and don’ts of your host community

Is N38,900 Monthly Allowance for NYSC Members is “Nothing but rRumours” –NYSC DG

In the past few days, a rumour has been trending on social media among prospective and current Youth Corps members over the increment of their monthly allowance.

The rumour was that the monthly allowance from the Federal Government was going to be increased from N19,800 to N38,900 and that some corps members in Nasarawa and Abuja camps had already began collecting the increased allowance.

However, refuting this rumour yesterday, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Nnamdi Okore Affia said there is no plan by the federal government to increase corps members’ monthly allowance.

Daily Trust reports that while addressing the 2013 Batch A corps members deployed to Katsina State, General Affia cleared the air on the rumour.

“To be honest with you there is no plan to increase your monthly allowance; all you have heard is nothing but rumours. If there is such plan I must be the first person to know but as far as I am concerned there is no official plan to increase your allowance; even if the plan is on the pipeline, it has not reach my level. Your monthly allowance is still N19, 800.”

While this rumour was trending, there was a debate over whether the Youth Corps members actually deserved to have an increase in their monthly allowances or not. Some argued that they did, while others said N38,900 was too much and was an allowance some people who had even completed their service year didn’t have the luxury of.

What are your thoughts? Should there be an increase in the Youth Corps members monthly allowance or not?

Kano Bomb Blast: Islam Does Not Support Suicide Bombing – Aregbesola

rauf aregbesola

Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has decried Monday’s bomb blast at Sabon-Gari area of Kano which he described as heartless, inhuman and barbaric.
Aregbesola who urged security agents and the Federal Government to do more to ensure the safety of lives and property of Nigerians and foreigners in the country, said the mindless killing of defenceless citizens represented an act against humanity and God.
In a statement by his Director of Bureau of Communications and Strategy Mr Semiu Okanlawon, Aregbesola said under no reason whatsoever should anyone or group take the lives of fellow human beings.
“It saddens when these barbaric and heartless people are described as fighting in the cause of any religion. Islam doesn’t support suicide bombing, Islam is a religion of peace. Islam does not encourage compulsion in religion”, he said.
The governor then charged security agencies and the Federal Government to rise up to the responsibilities of protecting lives and property of its citizens, adding that the destruction of lives and property and the failure of government apparatus are alarming.

Boko Haram: Kabiru Sokoto Charged With Terrorism

The alleged mastermind of the Christmas day bomb explosion that killed about 44 persons and wounded 75 others at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Madalla, Niger State, in 2011, Kabiru Umar, a.k.a Kabiru Sokoto, yesterday stood before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The Federal Government, through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, entered a three-count amended terrorism charge against the alleged kingpin of the Boko Haram Islamic sect, fifteen months after he was arrested by the Police.
Kabiru Sokoto was initially arrested by the Police in Abuja on January 14, 2012, only for him to be declared missing two days later, a development that culminated in the sack of erstwhile Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, and the dismissal of former Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Zakari Biu who was alleged to be complicit in the escape of the accused terrorist.
The suspect, who was also accused of training over 500 men on how to manufacture and detonate Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, was re-arrested on February 10, 2012, and had remained in the custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, since then.
He was said to have instituted his terrorist training camp at Abaji, a suburb town in Abuja.
Brought to court amid tight security, Kabir, could not enter his plea to the three-count amended charge, dated March 19, 2013, owing to his inability to secure a lawyer.
Shortly after he mounted the dock, the suspect, who was clad in white Kaftan, told the court that he did not understand English language, thus forcing the trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, to stand-down the case to enable the court produce an interpreter for him.
When the matter resumed, Kabir insisted on engaging a defence lawyer, alleging that since the day he was arrested, the security agency barred him from speaking to any lawyer.
Besides, the accused person told the judge that it was only yesterday morning that he was informed that he was going to court, even as he pleaded the court to give him two weeks to perfect his defence strategies.
At that juncture, the prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Chioma Onuegbu, served a copy of the charge to the accused person right inside the dock.
Before adjourning till April 19 to take the plea of the accused person, Justice Ademola expressed his displeasure with the Federal Government, noting that even though the initial charge against Kabir was filed since March 6, 2012, the prosecution only filed its amended charge yesterday.
“The Chief Judge has always warned us to ensure that sensitive terrorism cases like this are always treated with dispatch, and we, as judges, always do everything within our powers to fast-track such matters.
“However, it is most unfortunate that you are just filing this amended charge today,” the Judge fumed.
Consequently, he ordered the federal government to serve statement of evidence and all other evidence on the accused person before the arraignment date, just as he ordered the prosecution to prepare “trial indictment and evidence”, before that day, saying same should be accordingly served on the accused.
The judge directed that the prosecution must prepare a written case summon and serve on Kabir before April 12, as well as specify whether the federal government had the intention of adduce additional evidence against the accused person in the course of the trial.
He ordered that the accused be remanded in the custody of the SSS, pending his arraignment.
Specifically, the 3-count amended charge against the accused person read: “That you Kabiru Umar (Alias Kabiru Sokoto ) member of an illegal terrorist organization known and called Boko Haram, between 2007 and 2012 at Mabira Sokoto, Sokoto state did facilitate the commission of terrorist act to wit: by planting and encouraging your boys (now at large) at Mabira Sokoto, in Sokoto state with the intention to bomb the police headquarters Sokoto and some of the government organizations in the state and thereby committed an offence contrary to section15(2) of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004 and punishable under the same Act.
“That you Kabiru Umar (Alias Kabiru Sokoto ) on or about the 25th December, 2011 at St Theresa’s catholic church, Madalla, Niger State, had information about the bombing of Madalla Catholic Church and fails to disclose it to law enforcement officer as soon as reasonable practicable, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 7(1) of Terrorism and Prevention Act 2011, and punishable under section 33(1) of the same Act.
“That you Kabiru Umar (Alias Kabiru Sokoto ) about July 2011 at Abaji, support the act of terrorism by training about 500 men and inciting them to commit a terrorist act, and thereby committed an offence contrary to section4(1) (a) of Terrorism and Prevention Act 2011, and punishable under section 33(1) (b) of the same Act.”[Vanguard]

Why 14-Year-Old Girl Predicted Her Death On Facebook Minutes Before She Was Killed By Drunk Driver

c4e208eb7235754c993bf89774401478

A terrified teenage girl predicted her own death on Facebook just minutes before she lost her life at the hands of a drunken driver, a court heard today.
Kayleigh Lawrie, 14, pleaded to be allowed to get out of the car being driven by her father’s friend because she was so scared by his ‘Formula One’ style driving.
Kayleigh, who had already posted a message on Facebook saying ‘I think I’m going to die’, was told by her father Scott Lawrie not to be so stupid.
Moments later the driver Steven Hayter – who was twice over the drink-drive limit – lost control of his Renault Clio on a country road near Kayleigh’s home in Willoughby, Lincolnshire.
He was attempting to retrieve a cigarette he had dropped in the foot well.
The car skewed across the road into a ditch and then flew 60ft through the air before crashing down. Kayleigh, who was on the back seat, died instantly. A 13-year-old boy in the car suffered a fractured skull and facial injuries.
Lincoln Crown Court was told that Hayter had been on a seven-hour drinking session the previous night and then after a few hours sleep drank wine before setting out on his journey to visit a bank in the resort of Skegness.
Andrew Scott, prosecuting, said that on the night before Hayter drank four pints of lager in his village local before driving to the nearby town of Alford where he had another four pints and several double vodkas and coke.
Then, during the early hours he had a large glass of wine before downing a second large glass half an hour before setting off with Scott Lawrie, 37, and the two teenagers.
Hayter twice almost went off the road within minutes of setting off and then forced an oncoming pick-up onto the verge when he took a bend on the wrong side of the road.
Mr Scott said ‘At Alford the car stopped. The teenagers remained inside. Kayleigh posted a message on her Facebook page saying ‘I think I’m going to die. xx. luv you all’.
‘Kayleigh told him (Hayter) at the time she posted the message because she was scared.’
Hayter then called at a filling station and clipped the central pump island before reversing back and almost hitting another vehicle. He tried to fill up with diesel instead of petrol.
Mr Scott said ‘While the defendant paid for his petrol the boy and Kayleigh told Scott Lawrie they wanted to get out of the car because they were so frightened. Scott Lawrie told them not to be so stupid.
‘The defendant returned to his car. When he drove away from the petrol station he accelerated away at a speed so great that his wheels span.’
‘He started driving like a Formula One driver cutting up all the corners. The 13-year-old boy’s attention was focused on the speedometer which he read as 65 mph. As the vehicle reached the ditch there were screams and then the impact.’
Hayter himself suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. Tests taken more than four hours after the collision showed he was almost twice over the limit with a reading of 147 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood.
Hayter, a professional HGV driver, of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, admitted causing death by careless driving while over the limit. He was jailed for six years and disqualified from driving for two years.
Recorder Timothy Spencer QC told him ‘Kayleigh lost her life because of your appalling driving. This was a wholly avoidable and wholly unnecessary tragedy.
‘The only explanation for what happened must be drink. Your alcohol level must have been extremely high indeed. I am not convinced about the necessity for the journey at all.
‘Chillingly Kayleigh realised just how bad your driving was and before you left the petrol station had already sent a Facebook message which foretold of the tragedy to come.’
David Eager, defending, said Hayter had been left full of remorse.
‘He accepts he was solely responsible for Kayleigh’s death. That will lie heavily on his conscience for the rest of his life.’
Kayleigh’s mother Charlotte Buxton, in a tribute to her daughter, said ‘Kayleigh was a bright, happy, bubbly and loving 14-year-old, who lived life to the full. She loved animals, which included her rag doll cat, Sapphire, and her dog, Luna.
‘Kayleigh was strong-willed and knew what she wanted out of life. Kayleigh loved fashion and wasn’t afraid to experiment with her looks, although it often got her into trouble with school. She was good at French and loved cooking, especially cup cakes.
