Nigeria Is Dominated By Evil Spirits – Reverend Ighele

The General Superintendent of Holy Spirit Misson, Bishop Charles Ighele,
has attributed the prevalence of vices in the country to evil spirits.

The cleric, while speaking about the relevance of  Good Friday celebration in relation to Nigeria stated that Christians have misinterpreted the religion for mere good works and sober reflection which has caused the essence of it to be lost.

“A day like this is a day for Christians to connect to what happened on the cross. The power of the believer flows from the cross.” He said.

Talking about the many vices prevalent in Nigeria, he stated that “every society is controlled by a dominant spirit,” as well as geographical areas.
He citied San Francisco as the headquarters of homosexuals; Las Vegas as the headquarters of gambling. He added that “Nigeria as it is right now is being controlled by dominant spirits of corruption, of violence… Nigeria is becoming a factory that produces criminals.”

The Essence Of Christianity Is Lost - Rev. Ighele

Cleric Blames Crime Rate On Violent Leaders

He attributed the surge in crime the country is currently experiencing to the dominant spirits of crime, violence and corruption.
He accused most politicians in governance as being violent men who attain power by killing and hiring thugs in the bid to maintain hold on power.”

He stated that President Goodluck Jonathan, who looks like a non-violent man cannot vouch for those around him who can perpetuate violence without his knowledge.
However, he expressed hope for the nation saying that a man with the right spirit can change a nation.

Gunmen kill nine in fresh attack …as truck crushes four beggars

Nine more people have been killed by gunmen in an attack on Ratas village of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, just as four beggars were Friday crushed to death near the Jos Central Mosque when a truck driver lost control and ran over them where they were seated begging for arms.
The incident happened at about 4.30 pm.
The killing at Ratas is alleged to have been carried out by the same gun men who killed about 20 people in two villages of Bokkos Local Government area a few days ago.
They were believed to have capitalized on the massive deployment of members of the Special Task Force (STF) from their posts in the area to Bokkos LGA to attack the village.
Chairman, Management Committee of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area Mr. Emmanuel Loman who attended the mass burial of those killed confirmed the attack.
He said the attackers fleeing from Bokkos LGA following the massive deployment of troops to the area attacked the village as they were escaping and raised an alarm that the movement of the suspected Fulani militia had also been noticed around Gashish in the LGA.
He warned that they could unleash terror on the people of the area unless something was done urgently to repel them.
Also confirming the Ratas killings, acting spokesman of the STF Navy Lt. Jude Akpa said the force responded promptly on hearing the report of the attack but the gunmen had fled before they arrived there.
He said members of the STF took those injured to hospital for treatment on arrival at the village.

A 53-year-old woman, Patricia Philip has been  remanded in prison custody by an  Ijesha-tedo Magistrate’s Court Lagos, for allegedly throwing her son- in- law, Ejike Igwekile down from a two-story building.

The woman was said to have conspired with her son, Charles and two others, now at large, to commit the alleged offence.
During investigation by the police, Philip denied the allegation that she was involved in throwing her son-in-law down from the two-storey building. She  told the police that it was during a scuffle that Igwekile jumped from the building and fell down.
The woman who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder was arraigned before Magistrate Abegunde Davis. However, when the charges  against her were read, she pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Davis granted her bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

According to Igwekile, he married Nkiru,  a year ago and was living peacefully with her until  sometime this year when they had a little misunderstanding and she took their only daughter to her parent’s house at No 4, Iworo Street, Orile- Coker, after he left for hisbusiness.
He said their baby fell sick and his wife called him on the  phone  to bring money so that she would take the child to the  hospital for treatment, but he ignored her and insisted that she should come back to the house with the baby so that he would take her to the hospital. He said his wife refused but his mother-in-law, Patricia, rather came to his  house to pack her daughter’s property and also to end the marriage.
Igwekile said he resisted that she should not pack his wife’s property and  immediately she contacted her son, Charles, who came with two other suspects and descended on him, beating him up merciless after which they threw him out from the two-story building of his apartment and he was badly injured.  He was rushed to hospital where doctors battled to save his wife. Although he survived, he was badly injured, he broke his head and legs which he can not use to work properly as a result of injuries he sustained during the assault.

Gruesome Good Friday In Philippines As Dozens Are Nailed To Crosses

Dozens of penitents were nailed to crosses in the Philippines on Friday in an annual re-enactment of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

Hundreds more whipped their backs bloody as penance or thanksgiving throughout the predominantly Catholic country on Good Friday, which marks the day Jesus died on the cross.

The Good Friday rituals are the highlight of Easter celebrations in the Philippines, where more than 80 per cent of the estimated 94 million people are Roman Catholic.

Thousands of devotees and tourists flocked to San Fernando city in Pampanga province, 60 kilometres north of Manila, where more than 30 men had signed up to be nailed to crosses.

Wilfredo Salvador, a 57-year-old fishpond worker, said he began to join the crucifixions seven years ago as thanksgiving “for all the miracles” in his life.

“I also want to atone for my sins,” he said after 7.5-centimetre nails were hammered to his palms in the village of San Juan. “God has been good to me and I want to thank him.”

Salvador said he will have himself crucified every year for as long as he can: “I will accept whatever the Lord gives me and I will sacrifice as long as my strength allows me.”

The Roman Catholic Church frowns on the bloody rituals and has urged devotees to instead participate in masses, vigils and other official celebrations in their parishes.

Three dead, dozens feared trapped in Tanzania collapse

DAR ES SALAAM (AFP) – At least three people were confirmed dead and dozens feared trapped, including children, after a half-built multi-storey building collapsed in Tanzania’s main city of Dar es Salaam on Friday.
Hundreds of people, including residents and army rescuers, clawed through piles of rubble in the hunt for survivors, alongside earthmovers and excavators.
The shell of the 16-storey building collapsed near a mosque in the Kisutu area of Tanzania’s economic capital as many people including children were working or playing nearby, witnesses said.
“I thought there was an earthquake and then I heard screaming. The whole building fell on itself,” witness Musa Mohamed told AFP.

Dar es Salaam regional police chief Suleiman Kova told reporters that the death toll now stood at three.
“Four children remain unaccounted for. They were playing near the building,” he said, adding that he had directed rescuers to “continue with the operation until the last victim is found”.
He said that although it was too early to establish the cause of the accident, “the owner of the building would be held responsible and taken to task”.
Police sources said several people had been arrested as part of the investigation but gave no further details.
Scores of people were reportedly working in and around the building at the time of the incident at around 8:45 am (0545 GMT). The shell of the
Residents told AFP that during normal working days, the area bustles with activity from a mix of business people, passers-by and playing children
“My children normally come to play here during Sundays and holidays. I am not sure whether they are also trapped,” one desperate local resident Elizabeth Richard told AFP through tears.
Next to her, rescue workers were dragging out pieces of wood, iron rods, chunks of sand and bricks from the 20-metre high piles of rubble with the hope of locating more survivors.
“I was terribly shocked with the strange noise,” said Ramadhan Issa, a taxi driver who was having tea at a nearby restaurant at the time of the disaster.
Saidi Mecky Sadiky, the Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, said up to 60 people, including workers, food vendors and children could have been around the area, which has a mix of both commercial and residential developments.
“It will take us several hours to reach the pockets we suspect to have survivors,” police officer Lameck Kundya told AFP.
Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete visited the scene of the disaster in the coastal city and posted messages of condolence on his Twitter account.
“We pray for those who have been afflicted by this tragedy. We pray for togetherness in this time of need,” he said.
In 2008, another building collapse in Dar es Salaam claimed at least four lives.
“It looks like the city authorities are not serious with the enforcement of construction and housing laws. The city is undergoing a construction boom, but incidents of collapsing buildings are on the increase,” resident Rashid Abdallah said.

Tragedy: Painful story of woman who lost three children in boat mishap

MRS. Ebobra Newman Ometan, 30 and members of her family comprising three boys and girl  had fantastic plans for the Easter holidays until a dark cloud fell upon the hitherto happy family and things fell apart, leaving many unanswered questions.

Mrs Ometan, who hails from Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri-South West Area of Delta State and her husband are still in shock over the tragedy that befell them on Saturday 23, March, 2013. Indeed, that day will forever remain indelible and painful in their lives.
It all started as a bright Saturday morning. At about 10 am, Mrs. Ometan and her four kids -  Master Wisdom,13 and a primary six pupil, Progress and his twin, Favour who were aged nine and in primary three and the kid sister,  Promise, 6, who was  in primary one as well as a cousin’s son, boarded a boat to convey them to Opuwede-Bubor. Unfortunately, the boat capsized in the Warri River barely three minutes after take-off, leaving six children, including three of Ometan’s kids  and an adult dead. On board the boat at the time of the accident, were  five adults and 14 children.  Mrs. Ometan was only able to rescue her son Favour and cousin’s son alive.
Once upon a happy time: Mrs Ometan and her children before the boat mishap
Once upon a happy time: Mrs Ometan and her children before the boat mishap
Another occupant of the boat who was identified as Mr. Victor Mala who had five kids in the boat, also lost three of them. He was only able to rescue two of the children alive. Another man identified as Mark Oleke, who recently got married also failed to survive the accident. But a woman who had two kids was however lucky as all of them survived the boat mishap.
When Vanguard Metro, VM, visited Mrs. Ometan at her Orhuwhorun Road residence on Sunday afternoon, the house was parked full with grief-stricken  kinsmen who discussed the accident in hush tones. The couple, however, looked unconsolable as they wept profusely.
Indeed the atmosphere was heavy with the aura of sorrow as even the sun refused to shine though there was no sign of impending rain. This made it difficult to get Mrs. Ometan to narrate her bitter story. It took her elder sister, Mrs. Omare almost 20 minutes to convince Mrs. Ometan to speak to VM.
A painful accident:
Words may be inadequate to explain the pains the Ometans are going through as a result of the tragic loss of their three children in a twinkling of an eye. Their pain could, however, be felt from their mournful faces as relatives came to share in the irreparable loss.
Mrs. Ometan who spoke with a tremulous voice said: “Barely three minutes after we left the jetty in Marine Police area,  the boat driver was about to launch into the main river from the backside of a vessel seized  by the JTF. It was a blind angle hence  he did not know that another boat was coming near the arrested vessel. Suddenly, the boat ran across our boat and the heavy impact shattered our boat and it sank. One of the passengers,  Mr. Victor Mala was hit in the upper arm.
The other boat was carrying only loads;  there were no passengers. As our boat was shattered, everyone sank. (At this point Mrs. Ometan burst into uncontrollable wailing).
After about three minutes, she managed to continue.  “All the children held unto me as they fought hard to escape drowning. I beckoned on driver of  the boat which crushed ours for help, but he did not respond, apparently due to shock..
I held unto my small daughter as I struggled to remain afloat with all the children. They were drowning gradually because  they couldn’t swim. Because I later became tired,  the baby slipped out of my hand with the other two brothers. Only Favour and my cousin’s son that held on until a rescue boat came about five minutes later,” she said amidst increased wailing.
After another two minutes, Mrs. Ometan continued, “My husband wanted us to take the kids to Opuede-Bubor, I was taking them home for a three- week holiday with my mum. We have always traveled during the holidays. My husband who bade  us safe journey, told me to  call him when we arrived there. I even called him to inform him that we had boarded. I had no premonition of what was going to happen. We were excited about the travel.”
Mrs. Ometan added, that her twins would have marked  their birthday on April 10th. The deceased  daughter, Promise was to mark hers on May 10th. “We were planning to go to church the following day if we get to the village, “she said.
Wisdom, Promise and Progress
Wisdom, Promise and Progress
Mrs Ometan who said she did not sustain an injury lamented:  “I am still in shock ; I can’t speak. I have lost hope and had to cry all through the night”.
Mr. Ometan was able to add, “One of my friends, Mr. Omawe called me at about 11 am that my family were involved in a boat mishap, i now rushed to Aladja waterside to pick a boat, the incident occured at about 10am. I found my wife and son but I lost my two senior sons and only daughter, i put everything in the hands of God.”
One hopes that like Job in the Bible, God should restore the Ometan’s loss and the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Lynxxx has never been turned down by a lady.

With a body like that, how can any woman under 30? turn him down? :-). Below is what he told City People in a recent interview:
Have you ever been turned down by a lady?
Lynxxx: No
Even in your KC days? (He attended Kings College)
I haven't ever been turned down because I always make sure there is green light first. And my game was too much then. Now I don't even have time to be chasing women. I am just focused on my music.
On marriage

I am trying to settle down as I am getting older. It is only right you settle down because when you are exposed to this kind of attention, it's very easy to go off track. And you don't know if the women want you for who you are or for your money or for your fame or to destroy you. You are a target once you are famous. So you have to be very smart and don't get exposed in a negative way.

How Come? Church Members Abandon Their Sick Pastor

A parish Reverend of an orthodox church in Bariga, Lagos has become incapacitated after a strange fall at the entrance of his church. It has turned into a bone problem on which all his money is being expended.

“I used to have many members, but by the time I returned from a long treatment I discovered I was left with only five church members,” he cried out.
Pastor Amos Oladipupo, a father of two, told Punch that since the sickness refused to abate, his church members had also abandoned him.

Narrating the incident amid tears, he said, “It had just rained that day, and I wanted to take something outside. I suddenly fell on the pavement at the side door of the church.

“I initially experienced a little body ache, but I ignored that because it was expected after a fall like that.

“I became worried after the pain kept increasing. It became so unbearable that I had to see a doctor who told me it was rheumatoid arthritis, a critical bone problem and that I would require an operation”

Asked if he had not prayed on the matter, he said, “Many pastors and prophets together with some church members have had vigils and prayers for me. I think it is their prayers that have sustained me till today.”

He said he had struggled with the condition for three years with pain killer drugs until his doctor advised him in April 2012 that he might not survive the trauma if nothing urgent is done to save the situation.

Pastor Oladipupo, who hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State, is appealling to good Nigerians to save him from dying. He said, “I cannot walk, I crawl with my hands to enable me move around, and life is really unbearable. The doctors said I need N1m for the operation to save me. I don’t have a kobo. Nigerians should help me."

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Bariga branch, Moses Olutoye, said before the accident Pastor Oladipupo used to be a fervent and zealous prophet before he was incapacitated by the accident.

Surprisingly, he added that the division within CAN in the state had made it impossible for them to help the pastor.

AMVCA Why Genevieve lost to Jackie Appiah

AMVCA Why Genevieve lost to Jackie Appiah_Naijabliss.com
Result of the recently decided AfricanMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards unsettles a tradition, ANN OKON  reports

Genevieve Nnaji is, no doubt, the darling of many movie fans in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The multiple award-winning actress, model and brand ambassador has managed to attract the admiration and following of millions people globally.
That is why it came as a shock to many of Nnaji’s fans when, Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah, emerged winner of the 2013 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Actress in a Drama Category, beating Nnaji and others.   This is despite the fact that Nnaji’s red carpet look took centre stage at the event, where she wore a white buttoned down dress with a deep plunging neckline that afforded a generous view of her breasts.  Indicating the good and the bad, several media outfits could not resist flaunting her on their cover pages many days after.
As to why Genevieve did not win the awards, she, like some of her contemporaries that lost the game, seem to have failed to mobilise voters while the competition lasted.  MNET Managing Director, Mrs. Abiola Alabi, explained that the voting system decided the fate of the nominees at the awards, adding that in addition to being great actors with huge fan base, it was important for the nominees to reach out to their fans and make sure they voted for them.
Speaking during a party organised by MNET to celebrate the  winners, Alabi said, “We have received many calls from people asking why the nominees they expected to win the awards lost out. The awards event is a viewers’ choice oriented and winners are not chosen by the judges. They are voted for by the viewers. It is the trend in such programmes and I think this is a lesson for all our performers that they should always remind their fans to go out and vote for them at such occasions.”
The winner of the best actor in a drama series, O.C Ukeje,  who won the awards for his role in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby,  said he sent out some BlackBerry messages to his fans, reminding them of the awards and asking them to vote for him.
“Apart from that, I also have plenty of friends who are constantly on Facebook, Twitter and BlackBerry, sending messages on my behalf,” He recalled.
Speaking on the phone from her base in Ghana to our correspondent, Appiah said her fans from all over the world contributed to her victory by voting tirelessly for her.
When our correspondent contacted Genevieve’s friend and representative, Cosmetic company owner,  Chinny Onwugbenu, for comment, she declined to speak , saying she was mourning someone and that she is out of the country.

A man is dating four women and wants to decide which to marry.

He decides to give them a test. He gives each woman a present of $5000 and watches to see what she does with the money.

The first does a total make-over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much. The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much. Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5000. She gives him back his $5000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much. Obviously, the man was impressed.

The fourth runs off with the money…

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money, and then he married the one…

#Ladies... Which one would you be or would you be the forth one? What would you do with the money?

NSCDC/Police Clash: Desperation Sets In As Police in Lagos Beat ‘Confession’ Out of NSCDC Officer

NSDC-Killed-600x444

The Police in Lagos have forced Olanrenju Gbedeogun, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to make a statement that exonerates the police from the attack that led to the death of two officers of the corps as well as led to the escape of some oil pipeline vandals.
It was learnt that in a frantic bid to cover their tracks and back-up their claim to the presidency that it was officers of NSCDC which attacked the police, and that the police knew nothing about the death of the two NSCDC men, the police in Lagos has subjected Gbedeogun to severe torture reportedly supervised by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police where a videotaped confession is said to have been obtained.
A police officer at the Owutu Police Station who felt bad about the latest developments told us on condition of anonymity that if care was not taken urgently Gbedeogun would be dead before daybreak. By that time, the torture victim had already spent over 24hrs in detention, contrary to the law. This is even as the IG of Police Mr Mohammed Abubakar yesterday ordered the unconditional and immediate release of all NSCDC officials in custody.
Gbedeogun was one of the NSCDC officers that escaped from the vandalization scene where the police killed two of his colleagues. He was found where he was hiding for fear of his life, and arrested by the police.

ALBUM REVIEW: Lagbaja speaks the bitter truth

Lagbaja Album-cover
Artiste- Lagbaja
Album- 200 Million Mumu (The Bitter Truth)
Label- Motherlan’ Music (2012)
Running Time- 45 minutes
 Lagbaja speaks the bitter truth
In the 90s and early 00s Lagbaja was as big as they came. His humorous and political songs made him a household name and his faceless persona made him an interesting mysterious artist. The burgeoning pop scene sinco the mid 00s might have slightly diminished Lagbaja’s influence in contemporary music, but the masked one still has the tricks to make everyone listen to his music.
His 9th studio album 200 Million Mumu (The Bitter Truth) is vintage Lagbaja. He mixes sarcasm and humour to sing about the ills of the Nigerian society. The main theme of this LP has to do with the docile and hypocritical nature of average Nigerians. On ‘200 Million Mumu (Part 1)’ Lagbaja says ‘you no different from them at all’. The ‘them’ he talks about are Nigerian leaders. According to Lagbaja the ordinary Nigerian is no different from a bad politician and Nigeria’s problem is mostly a case of bad followership.
In ‘200 Million Mumu (Part 3)’ Lagbaja turns former President Olusegun Obasanjo into a stuttering auto-tune robot talking about his failed third term bid. Lagbaja splices OBJ’s vocals to address the docile nature of Nigerians when faced with oppression.
Lagbaja has a fascination with OBJ as his vocals appear again on ‘Dust to Dust’. As the former president says that no one is as powerful as him even God, Lagbaja warns that God has the ultimate power and death will come to all. He also talks about the hypocrisy of Christians and how God is not deceived with their holier-than-thou attitude.
This album is filled with three hymns (‘Joy Cometh in the Morning’, Guide Me O Great Jehovah’ and Nipa Ife Olugbala’). The presence of these hymns on the album is puzzling at first but at the end of ‘Dust To Dust’ when Lagbaja sings ‘justice go come one day’ it all makes sense. The hymns are Lagbaja’s solution to the Nigerian problem- God. You would think Lagbaja would prefer a call to arms but he like most Nigerians looks up to God to solve the Nigerian dilemma.
Then there are some of the songs (‘Knock Knock’, ‘Redemption Song’ and ‘Omo Jayejaye’) that steer off the main theme.  ‘Omo Jayejaye’ is a combination of African drums and Electro pop. It’s a fun and celebratory song that uses the vocoder and chipmunk vocal effect.
There are a few songs that shouldn’t be covered or remixed because the original is basically flawless. Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption Song’ is one of them. Lagbaja’s attempt at re-working this evergreen song doesn’t yield stellar results. He doesn’t have the voice for it and the beat clutters his honest effort.
In truth Lagbaja isn’t a great singer but he is a great writer/arranger; a great narrator, a great producer and a rare performer. This makes 200 Million Mumu (The Bitter Truth) a pleasurable listening experience.
The album might not be long but it packs a punch that should leave you satisfied. Lagbaja is still a master craftsman whose new work of art is refreshing

A prostituté in Bulowayo, Zimbabwe, is bringing new meaning to the term “killer séx” after authorities thought she died during an encounter with a customer.
However, she came back to life just as officials placed her in a metal coffin.
The incident occurred last week at the Manor Hotel and the escort, later identified as “MaNdlo,” reportedly collapsed and died while having séx with a client.
But when authorities came to collect the body of the prostitute and put it in a steel coffin, she suddenly woke up in a panic screaming, “You want to kill me!” at the officers.
Seeing a woman presumed to be dead spring back to life shocked onlookers, many of whom ran away in fear, Bulawayo24.com reported.
“It was like a movie,” a source told the website. “People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen.”
MaNdlo was taken home by another working girl and the unidentified john who allegedly “killed” her reportedly sneaked out of the hotel moments after the cops had left.
