Serena Williams heavily criticised for blaming rape victim

The world champion is being heavily criticized over remarks she made about the victim of the Steubenville Ohio rape case. A 16-year-old girl who was raped by high school football players, Trent Mays and Ma'Lik Richmond, who were each sentenced to a year in juvenile jail in March this year.

During an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Serena blamed the girl for putting herself in a position where the boys could rape her. She said:

"Do you think it was fair, what they got? (The high school football player) They did something stupid, but I don't know. I'm not blaming the girl, but if you're a 16-year-old and you're drunk like that, your parents should teach you: Don't take drinks from other people. She's 16, why was she that drunk where she doesn't remember? It could have been much worse. She's lucky. Obviously, I don't know, maybe she wasn't a virgin, but she shouldn't have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something, then that's different."

Nine PDP Govs Voted For Amaechi – Lamido

Jigawa Sate Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, on Tuesday said nine Peoples Democratic Party governors voted for the incumbent chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, at the June 4 election that later divided the forum.

 

Lamido gave a specific insight into what happened during the NGF election while speaking in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America monitored in Abuja, on Tuesday

Speaking specifically about the election of Ameachi as Chairman, NGF, Lamido said,

“I also voted for Ameachi. Look, in the PDP, myself, the governor of Kano, the governor of Niger, the governor of Kebbi, the governor of Sokoto, the governor of Kwara, the governor of Rivers, the governor of Adamawa, nine of us PDP governors voted for him.

“This election was for the NGF, not a candidate for the PDP; there is nothing to it.”

In a veiled reference to the consensus reached by the Northern Governor Forum to present Governor Jonah Jang as consensus candidate.

S/West PDP Endorses Jonathan For Second Term

The South West Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP , has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office, noting that he is constitutionally entitled to seek re-election.

It also appointed former President Olusegun Obasanjo as grand patron of the party in the zone, even as it constituted a stakeholders’ council under the Chairmanship of Senator Lekan Balogun.

Disclosing these, yesterday, in Lagos at The South West Stakeholders’ Forum, the party passed a vote of confidence in its National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur  and National Working Committee, NWC.

Those at the event include: Senator Seye Ogunlewe, Chief Ishola Filani, Chief Ayo Fayose,  Senator  Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, Mrs. Mobolaji Osomo, Alhaja Salmat Badru, Chief Tayo Dairo, Mrs. Aduke Maina, Dr. Olu Alabi, among others.

N70,000 Mysteriously Turns To Pieces Of Paper in Cross River State

Pension money withdrawn from a second generation bank by a 24-year-old woman for the upkeep of his ailing father mysteriously turned to pieces of newspapers after she alighted from a commercial taxi in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

 

The woman who pleaded anonymity told Vanguard that she had gone to the bank  located at Murtala Muhammed Highway, Calabar Road, to withdraw N70,000.00 but later discovered to her surprise that the money which she wrapped in a black cellophane bag before boarding a taxi had turned to pieces of paper.

The bewildered lady while narrating the incident to policemen on duty and concerned commuters amidst tears, said after making the withdrawal she boarded the taxi to Watt Market to buy some items.

According to her, after the withdrawal she stopped a commercial taxi with four passengers behind and one in front and she was asked by the driver to squeeze herself in the front seat.

Drake never wants to be associated with Chris Brown again after their New York City club fight last June, and says the former love rivals will never patch things up.

The rapper is still fuming over his New York City club bust-up with the R&B singer last June, during which several people were injured after note passing about mutual flame Rihanna turned into a bottle-throwing brawl between the two love rivals and their respective entourages. One year on, Drake has spoken openly about the W.i.P nightclub incident for the first time, insisting he will never patch things up with the ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ hitmaker.

Referring to Chris’ on/off relationships with Rihanna and Karrueche Tran, Drake told America’s GQ magazine: ‘I hear he has everything he could want now. I don’t want my name to be synonymous with that guy’s name. I really don’t. I wish we could sit down … and talk it out man-to-man. But that’s not going to happen.’

Stripper Suffers Miscarriage While Twerking On Stage

Hot Houston stripper and sometimes-model Jhonni Blaze (pictured) reportedly had a miscarriage on stage while in the throes of twerking, the latest dance craze that involves moving the booty and hips in a vigorous up and down motion, according to the Examiner.

Last Wednesday, as the young performer was reportedly twerking on stage, she began to bleed profusely.

When Blaze left the stage, witnesses allege, that she went in to a convulsion. The paramedics were immediately summoned, transporting her to the nearest emergency room, where she was reportedly given a transfusion.

The self-described “pole assassin” and proclaimed “Queen of Houston” was reportedly treated for a miscarriage.

Although Blaze has not officially confirmed the miscarriage, she did manage to tweet the day after the incident.
