This week's worst-dressed crew includes Justin Bieber, Cher, and Britney Spears. -- By Matt Whitfield

Justin Bieber suggested -- via Instagram -- that he was dared to wear this garish getup by a pal who wouldn't sport it himself. But based on other outrageous outfits we've seen the pop star don, we're not necessarily beliebing him. Regardless of his intentions, JBiebs, who turns 19 on Friday, looked ridiculous from head-to-toe in this LMFAO-inspired ensemble, which featured a studded cap, dorky specs, two gold watches, and the saggiest (and most ...

Student Expelled from Covenant University for Watching Pòrnography

A former student of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state has taken the institution to court, challenging his illegal expulsion for allegedly watching Pòrnography and secular music on his laptop.

The student, Vwamhi Longji Felix, in his 24-paragraph affidavit to support his claim, stated that before he was expelled his parents had spent not less than N10 million on his school fees and other expenses. He was a 400 level student of Communication Technology reportedly expelled on 23rd November 2012, following a night raid by the Student Affairs’ Unit of the institution. This was followed by his appearance before the school’s disciplinary panel which recommended his expulsion.

Vanguard reports that at the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the prosecuting counsel Segun Fatoki, told the court that Felix was allegedly expelled without an opportunity of a proper hearing or viewing the evidence in accordance with the standard practice as guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999. He also claimed that his expulsion was a violation of Section 44 of Chapter 4 of the student Handbook of the Covenant University.

However, the school in its counter affidavit stated that in the school hand book it was noted that students are not allowed to be in possession of unholy films and home video or circular music tapes, either stored or directly in the computer or listen through the use of computer radio or any other electronic device when on campus during an academic session.

Also, the school claimed that it is an offence that will attract punishment of expulsion for any student who indulges himself or herself in public display of or be in possession of Pòrnographic films or photographs, exploring or viewing Pòrnographic websites on the internet.

Vanguard reports that after listening to both parties, Justice Mobolaji Ojo of Ogun State High Court said they should allow every individual to grow life that they need to live adding that if at age 15 to 17 they don’t live that life, they would live it when they are 30 to 35 because of too much rules. “A youth must live like a youth and an adolescent must live like an adolescent. If all of the traits of a youth are not allowed to be exhibited at the right time, it would be done at the wrong time,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.

22-Year Old Igbo Boy Caught With Drugs At Lagos International Airport

A 22-year-old Nigerian, Jude Ejikonye Ilechukwu who resides in Thailand was recently apprehended by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with 1.295kg of substance discovered to be methamphetamine.

Ilechukwu was arrested at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The drug which was concealed inside his luggage, was detected during the screening of passengers on Ethiopian Airline at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The MMIA Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Hamza Umar, said the drug was carefully hidden in the suspects’ luggage.

Umar said: “Like several factory modes of drug concealment, we had to practically cut the bag open to detect the drugs.

“Ordinarily, when you open the bag, you will not see the drug.

“We found two brown parcels of drugs weighing 1.295kg.”

According to Ilechukwu, he was lured into the drug deal by a friend he met in Thailand.

In his words: “I am a business man. I relocated to Thailand last year where I buy goods and send to Nigeria.

“It was in Thailand that I met a man who introduced me into drug business. He gave my number to his partner in Lagos who lodged me in a hotel.

“They made me to contribute N750,000 as my contribution and promised me a handsome reward on arrival in Thailand.

“My focus was on the profit that will accrue to me. It was when I was arrested that I realised I had made a big mistake.”

The suspect attended Okija Community Primary School and Okija Grammar School, Anambra State before he started business.

He will soon be charged to court.

Korean firm buys Nigeria’s power plant

The National Council on Privatisation (NCP) on Thursday approved the sale of 70 per cent of Egbin power plant in Lagos to a Korean firm, KEPCO for $407.3 million.

The Chairman of the Technical Committee of NCP, Mr Atedo Peterside, stated this in an interview with State House Correspondents in Abuja after the monthly meeting of the Council.

The meeting was presided over by its chairman, Vice President Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Peterside said the Egbin plant was currently valued at over $670 million, more than the $549 million placed on it in 2007.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government began negotiations in 2007 to sell only 51 per cent equity share of the plant to the firm.

He also revealed that the Council approved the sale of power generation plants at Omotosho in Ondo and Olorunsogo in Ogun to Chinese firms as part of the ongoing privatisation programme of the power sector.
Peterside said the two plants, Omotosho and Olorunsogo, which were being constructed by the Chinese firms, were valued at $166 million.

According to him, the NCP offered the plants on right of first refusal to the Chinese firms.
He said this was because they would naturally understand the plants better and have agreed to a sale price the Council considered reasonable enough.

He said that except for Afam plant, “every other power plant owned by PHCN now has a core investor”.
The Chief Executive Officer of Forte Oil, a partner of Amperium Consortium, Mr Akin Akinfetiwa, presented a confirmation of payment of $33 million and a local component of N519.12 million paid into NCP’s account.

Peterside, who received the confirmation letter on behalf the NCP, said the amount represented 25 per cent down payment for acquiring 51 per cent share of Geregu power plant.

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Musa Sada, also briefed the correspondents on the outcome of the meeting.

He said the Council deliberated on the report of the progress being made by the Attorney-General of the Federation on the issue of arbitration delaying the privatisation of the Ajaokuta steel plant and Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON).

“We are beginning to see that very soon we are likely to conclude some of those issues, such that BPE will take full charge of these two important facilities that are appropriately privatised, not the way it happened before that is now putting us into these issues.

“This time, it will be in such a way that they will come back to contribute the way that they are expected to as major industrial backbone of the Nigerian economy,” Sada said.

The Acting Director General of the BPE, Mr Benjamin Dikki, also announced the NCP’s approval of five draft bills for onward transmission to the Federal Executive Council for further approval.

They are the Inland Waterway; Ports; Railways; Road sector and the National Transport Commission bills.
He said the Council also approved the NIPOST reform bill, which he said, would make the postal agency to return to its role of regulating the industry.

P-Square building mansion in ParkView, Ikoyi

The “Chop my money” crooners have directed their funds towards a building project since the women were not bold enough to spend their cash with them.

The duo are said to be building some sort of mansion in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, a highbrow area in Lagos State where landed properties start from $1 million. In December, it will be recalled that Peter tweeted a picture of his mansion in USA with his kids Cameron and his baby mama, Lola Omotayo.

Anyways, the duo are great businessmen as they seem to concentrate more on assets than liabilities. If you will chop their money, believe me you must have paid back in ways you will not comprehend.
