”My Divorce Is Not The End Of Life” -Actress, Kate Henshaw

''My Divorce Is Not The End Of Life'' -Actress, Kate Henshaw

Nollywood Actress, Kate Henshaw who has being in the industry for a long time and still waxing strong in a recent interview speaks on issues in the movie industry, her personal life, among other issues.
Excerpts
What inspired your new dreadlocks hairstyle?
It’s not dreadlocks, I keep explaining to people. These are natural twists. On my last birthday, I decided to make a lot of changes in my life. I decided to reclaim my hair because I really had lovely hair growing up, and the first time relaxer ever touched my hair was when I was in the university.
After years of using too much chemical on it, I decided to just make a complete turnaround. Now, my hair is healthy, it’s long, it’s lovely. And I would never let relaxer touch it again. I don’t fix artificial nails again. I’m back to natural nails. I just put on some long-lasting polish. I fixed my nails for over 10 years but I’m tired of it now. I want to be healthy in my old age.

Your divorce came as a shock to a lot of people. Why did you take that decision?
Shock? Have you not heard that Seal and Heidi (Klum) have divorced? Haven’t you seen people who have been married for 20 to 25 years and divorced? I’m not perfect; no one is. We all have our low moments. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure.
Everybody goes through bad patches in life. Life must go on, whether we like it or not. It’s always better to part under good circumstances than for someone to be in jail, or die, or to be hurling insults at each other. There is no need for that.
It seems you don’t regret your divorce, because you always have this cheerful look?
It’s God. Looking back at my life, where I came from, I never even thought I would be an actress. I never even thought I would have an opportunity to meet people, to be a role mode. So, it’s not for me to feel self-pity.
I’m grateful to God every single day. I choose to be happy. I am a happy person. Someone encouraged me with these words yesterday: ‘Every problem you have will resolve and dissolve’.
So, my divorce is not the end of life and my God has given me cheer and joy. That explains why I am always happy and cheerful. No regrets.
Will you remarry?
I am not sure about remarrying but I will love again. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I’m only going to be very choosy. I don’t know about marriage, but, maybe, love.
You’ve kept your daughter away from the limelight. Is this deliberate?
Yes. You want them to kidnap my daughter? When they see her picture, then they will know who she is. I remember somebody sent a card to me through her school and I was so surprised.
They just dropped it on her desk and I was wondering how the person knew my daughter attends that school. Should she decide to step into the limelight later on, that would be her call, not mine. I’ve managed to keep her away and I’m sure I’ve done a good job. Now she is not even in the country and it’s better she schools there.

"I have been suffering menstrual pains since age 13' - Nike Oshinowo opens up about her battle with Endometriosis

Endometriosis is painful disorder in which the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of the uterus and on other organs. Endometriosis can cause pain, internal scar tissue and fertility problems and former beauty queen Nike Oshinowo has been battling with it for over 33 years. Nike explains:
"I have lived with Endometriosis since the age of 13. I went to boarding school in England  when I was 7. I went to prep school. It was during the first few days in secondary school that I began my periods. They called the ambulance and I was hospitalized for 10 days because the pain wouldn't stop. The pain was so intense I passed out. I thought I was going to die.
Living with Endometriosis is a challenge. When you see your doctor, your doctor tries to treat the symptoms and assumes the pain revolves around your menstrual circle. But this is not so. The pain affects every single aspect of your life. I have never had an examination without my period. There are so many things I have never done without my period. When I am happy, my period comes. When I'm depressed, my period is there. I learned to just cope with it.
She explains more about the disease. See it after the cut...

Until I turned 40, Nigerians didn't know I suffered from Endometriosis. I granted an interview then and people understood why I never drank alcohol and why I was into healthy living. At last, it was understood why if I come to your party, by 8pm I had to go home to take my pain killers because when you live with Endometriosis, you live with pain. I have a library in my home about pain.

I talk about this pain now so that mothers, when their young daughters are starting their period for the first time and it is traumatic, they should go to the hospital and have it checked out.

Mine was left so late in life in spite of the fact that I grew up in England. I have had so many surgeries I have lost count. I remember when Michael Jackson died and they talked about a drug he had been taking. I exclaimed oh yes I have taken that drug. You try everything to make the pain go away, so all I know is that I don't want a child of mine to suffer Endometriosis. The only way to make sure of that is to educate as many as I can.

One ignorant doctor told me once to try to have a baby, because once you have a baby the pain would go away. I thought to myself if I had a gun, I would have shot that doctor and I would have been locked and there would have been no one to give me pain killers. The reason for that relief is that when you are pregnant, you don't have periods and a long gap of not menstruating actually abates the symptoms of Endometriosis.

Women with Endometriosis do not want to have sex because it is painful. So you do not want to have intercourse once and it is painful, you will not want to go there. It is not something you are going to look forward to. You are either bleeding or you do not want. So, on the average, my friend's period is 5 days, mine, if I'm lucky lasts 7-10 days and if I'm super duper lucky, lasts less than 7 days. If you look at a girl's circle, 26-27 days, remove the days she's been menstruating and remove the days she doesn't want, when she had premenstrual tension. When every part of you is sore, on those days you are not going to want and even on the remaining 5 or so days that you are OK, you are not going to want to have intercourse it is going to be painful. You just don't want to, so you cannot have a proper relationship with men.

Kaduna Flooded With Lamido, Amaechi’s 2015 Posters

lamido_amaechi
Posters of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and his Rivers State counterpart, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi, announcing their intention to contest the 2015 presidential poll on the platform of the Peoples Democracy Party have flooded Kaduna.
This came less than 48 hours after prominent politicians in the North central zone boycotted the party’s reconciliation meeting on Saturday.
The crises in the PDP appeared to have taken another dimension on Monday when the posters of Lamido and Ameachi, who happened to be the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, surfaced in Kaduna, the political hotbed of the North.
The posters at the Stadium Roundabout in the heart of the city and another at the Station Roundabout in the Southern part of the state, had such inscription as ‘support Sule Lamido/Ameachi for 2015 president’.
There was also a single poster of Lamido, which bore ‘Support Sule Lamido/Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi for President 2015′.
Also, from the Lugard Hall Roundabout, leading to the State House of Assembly, the posters were all over.
At the Murtala Square in the metropolis, where the PDP held its zonal reconciliation meeting, the posters were on every available space, including trees on the busy Independence Way.
The source further said the absence of the governors from the various meetings of the party was deliberate.
He said, “By now, you should know that the PDP has been factionalised by self interest. We have Jonathan faction; Bamanga Tukur faction and the governors faction”. [Punch]

The Nigerian Immigration Service has commenced the mass deportation of illegal aliens arrested in different parts of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria following fears of the presence of suspected Boko Haram members in the state.

Security has been beefed up at strategic areas in the state to prevent attack on Lagos by Boko Haram extremists`.

In order to beef up security at the grassroots, Governor Babatunde Fashola met with thousands of officials of the Neighbourhood Watch outfit at the Lagos Television ground today.

Also yesterday, the Hausa community leaders in Lagos vowed to fish out members of the Boko Haram sect planning to attack Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered this morning that illegal aliens from Chad, Niger, Mali, among others will be deported in order to avert terrorist attack on Lagos, with a population of 20 million and the commercial nerve centre of the nation.

Police sources confirmed that over 50 illegal aliens were handed over to the immigration for screening and onward deportation to their countries immediately as they constitute security threat to the state.

It was gathered that 61 suspects were taken to the Lagos State Taskforce office at the weekend out of which 55 were handed over to immigration authorities for screening and deportation.

Police sources told P.M.NEWS this morning that the illegal aliens were arrested at Ijora, Lekki and some parts of the state, adding that over 100 illegal aliens were arrested during the raid.

Our source added that the raid was ongoing and that the police would not relent until they fish out bad elements posing security threats to the state.

Following threats posed by Boko Haram, Fashola addressed thousands of Neigbourhood Watch officials today where he told them to brace up for the challenge ahead and ensure that terrorists did not creep into the state. The governor said the officers must police the grassroots appropriately and ensure that strange elements were identified, arrested and handed over to the police for prompt action.

He said the state relied and believed in them as grassroots security outfit to be vigilant and on the alert at all times and work with community leaders to identify people with nefarious purpose. Before the meeting, the Lagos State Government had been meeting with officials of the Neigbourhood Watch on monthly basis to evaluate how they have gone about policing the grassroots. Tomorrow, Fashola is also expected to convene an emergency State Security Council Meeting at the State House, Marina. He is expected to address top police, military, navy, State Security Service, SSS chiefs on the need to strategise to sustain the existing peace and security in the state.

Female Student Expelled From Medical School For Wearing Hijab

An unnamed third-year student from Muslim-populated Dagestan had been expelled from the city’s medical school for wearing a headscarf, a local TV station in Krasnoyarsk city reported.
Russian prosecutors are now looking into the case following the reports.
“After the TV report was broadcast, the Krasnoyarsk district prosecutors launched a probe to check the legitimacy of the expulsion,” local prosecutor’s aid Yelena Pimonenko said.
Krasnoyarsk State Medical University confirmed that one of its students had been expelled for “violating internal regulations”, but declined to specify which rules.
According to the school’s rules issued in February and published on its website, students are forbidden from entering university premises in “items of clothing that stress their religious affiliation”, as well as headwear (except for medical items), beach wear and outer clothing.
The debate over hijabs in Russian schools ignited in October 2012 in the southern region of Stavropol, where a school barred several Muslim girls from attending school wearing headscarves.
The region’s authorities went on to impose a blanket ban on headscarves at local educational facilities.
Last week, a Stavropol court ruled against overturning the ban, which had been appealed by four residents of the region.

Under the tent with Gaddafi: Sex, ephebes, concubines and racism

Below is Nouri al-Mismari former Libyan director of protocol and Minister of State's account.

About Imam Moussa Sadr, I received a call from Abdallah Senoussi, who was then an officer in military intelligence.

It was an amorous call. [Late Gabonese President Omar] Bongo was very angry

He gave me three passports and asked me to get Italian visas for guests of the government.

One of these was Sadr's passport. It took time and Senoussi stamped his feet.

I later realized that the imam had been abducted and they had planned to cover it up with a trip to Rome. [...]

"He [Gaddafi] was temperamental. Sometimes he would wake up and say: "Bring me that negro", in reference to an African head of state.

And after the interview: "The negro is gone. Give him something. "[...]

"When he was at loggerheads with his wife Safia, he would retreat to his bunker in Bab al-Aziziyah.

"He had his harem, with ephebes and concubines.

"He would stay for a month or two, and there we knew that he was plunged into debauchery and partying. [...]

"He took steroids, brought to him by Senoussi. [...]

"During a hunting party in Romania, he killed one of the Officers, Salah Boufaroua because he had evidence that Gaddafi's mother was Jewish.

"Two diplomats in Rome were executed for the same reason. [...]

"He was sadistic with women. I witnessed two cases of aggression against a Nigerian academic and the wife of a Swiss businessman.

"The first received a $100,000 "compensation".

The other case was covered by an investment in a Swiss company. [...]

"Bashir Saleh [former Gaddafi aide] told me that the [late] Gabonese President Omar Bongo had made him listen to a taped telephone call between Gaddafi and his wife.

"It was an amorous call. Bongo was very angry. [...]

"Gaddafi was fond of history books and loved to surprise foreign representatives by evoking little known details. [...]

"When Kofi Annan came to Libya in relation to the Lockerbie bombing, he was made to wait a whole day. He hosted a tent in the desert, I saw a mortified Annan."

In Triki talks about the difficulties encountered while working as a diplomat under an erratic and self-import  Gaddafi.

"[During his speech at the UN General Assembly in September 2009, Ed] Gaddafi took advantage of his presence on the podium to trample on the UN Charter.

Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi hated each other and threw banana peels in each other's paths

"Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon looked very disappointed and wanted to ask him to stop his speech.

I told him to take the misfortune patiently because I feared an unpredictable reaction from Gaddafi.

I was ashamed to the point of burying my face in my hands. The photo was published in the press. [...]

"Most of the time, he was simply in another world. He was convinced of being an exceptional personality whose mission was to change the world. He was neither conscious of the limits of Libya, nor his own limits as a person.[...]

"When a ruler of his caliber registers modest successes, he rapidly believes himself to be irresistible. [...]

"Being a diplomat under Gaddafi was a dog's profession. There was a constant image repair to the damages caused by his declarations, his mood swings, his mannerisms [...]

"He had no respect for diplomacy. He once asked me to deliver a message to King Hassan II, insisting that I tell the king that he is "a reactionary and a collaborator" amid other accusations. Imagine the scene. Of course, the Libyan diplomacy did not deliver such messages. [...]

"On another occasion, because he did not like the tone used by Hosni Mubarak to convene an urgent meeting of the Arab League, he wanted to respond by "we are not your servants." [...]

"After the attempted coup against him in 1975, he changed. He no longer trusted anyone. He was obsessed with holding on to power and fighting against anything that might threaten him. [...]

"Mid-sentence during a meeting at the Kremlin, Gaddafi glanced at his watch and announced that it was prayer time. The discussions stopped and Gaddafi prayed right there. It was certainly a first at the Kremlin. [...]

"The vacuum left by the death of Gamal Abdel Nasser [Former Egyptian president] encouraged the ambitions of those who dreamed of taking his place, including Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein.

"These two men hated each other and threw banana peels in each other's paths: Saddam armed Hissene Habré [during the Libyan-Chadian war] whilst Muammar supported the Kurds, receiving their leaders, Jalal Talabani and Massoud Barzani. [...]

"Gaddafi offered a large sum to Saddam, for the latter to hand over Mohamed el-Megaryef [one of the leaders of the then opposition, now President of Parliament]. He was not successful. [...]

"But it worked with Hassan II, who extradited Omar el-Mhichi, a former Gaddafi companion. He was transferred to Tripoli, where he was executed."

Muammar Gaddafi was a megalomaniac who was consumed by his own self-importance

Another Suspected Terrorists Hide Out Discovered In Lagos

Fresh facts emerged, Monday, on the presence of more illegal aliens suspected to be terrorists in Ijora area of Lagos, as revealed that the suspects, who are Malians and Chadians, were occupying a three-storey building owned by a state government.

However, investigations revealed that the three story-building alleged to be used by the suspected terrorists is also located on Aromire Street, Ijora, close to the house that was raided last week.Last Thursday’s raid by the Department of State Security, DSS, and men of OP Messa, led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists and recovery of arms and explosives in a building on Aromire Street, Ijora.

Monarch raises alarm Lagos monarch, Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Aremu, who spoke when traditional heads of major northern tribes resident in Lagos, led by the Seriki Hausa of Lagos State, Alhaji Sani Kadiri Garuba, visited him in his palace, said it would have been a case of the worse casualties in the history of bombings in the country.

He blamed the government that owns the building for the development. The monarch said: “You see, this problem comes from the state government that owns that property. If you go to the house in Ijora, you will see all these Malians there.

“They are squatters and we have written to the state government concerned several times without any response. Ask the Area Commander and the DPO, they will tell you. On our part, we are trying our best.”

Without mincing word, the monarch urged the Seriki Hausa of Lagos to call his people, particularly those in Ijora to order, saying “I am not happy with what happened because your people have been living with us here since. I have been here since 1994 and this kind of thing had never happened.

“We have been taking your people as brothers and sisters. You don’t have to turn back and do this kind of thing to us. Do something because I am not happy at all. Since that day (last Thursday), I have not been sleeping. Please, let this stop. I am giving them warning. Ijora is a no-go area for them.

“If they still remain in Ijora, I will flush them out, Insha Allah. They should not use Ijora as a base. Ijora is not a base for criminals. I do not tolerate nonsense. Please, I am giving them warning again, they should leave my domain. My domain is not meant for criminals. I am talking to you (Seriki).

“Please, call your men to order. Lagos is a no go area for bombings. These people referred to as Malians, Nigeriens live with your people. Please, talk to your Serikis.”

Seriki Arewa speaks Earlier, the Seriki Hausa and Chairman, council of Arewa chiefs in Lagos, explained that the purpose of the visit was to commiserate with Oba Oyeyinka on what he described as a sad incident, and to pledge the solidarity of northerners under the Arewa councils of chiefs as peace-loving people.

He said: “We will also like to seize this opportunity to emphasise that for intensive security in our nation, we appeal to the Federal Government to do more. Although it is trying its best to check the menace, we urge them to intensify and broaden their security scope, so that this kind of thing will never happen again.

“Lagos is a mini Nigeria and anything that happened to Lagos will affect the whole nation. Finally, I will like to also appeal to other agencies and nationalities with the state to be calm and patient as we continue to live in harmony with each other.”

93 suspects handed over to Immigration Meantime, a total of 93 illegal aliens were, yesterday, handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Alagbon, Ikoyi, for onward prosecution.

The aliens, whose mission in the country could not be ascertained, were mainly Malians, Nigeriens and Chadians.

Their arrest followed a raid by joint security operatives following the discovery of a suspected terrorists’ hideout in Ijora area of Lagos, last Thursday.

Confirming the arrest, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. Muyiwa Odunubi, said the suspects would be paraded tomorrow by the Command.

He said: “I can confirm to you that we received 93 suspected Boko Haram members, who were handed over to us by the Police and other security agencies.”

Two Policemen To Die By Hanging For Killing PDP Members In Ekiti State

An Ado Ekiti High Court has sentenced two policemen to death by hanging for their roles in the killing of two members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over allegation of the defacement of posters of political opponents in Omuo Ekiti about two years ago.

Fracas broke out between the PDP and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, on March 23, 2011 at Kota Junction in Omuo Ekiti over alleged defacement of posters belonging to PDP aspirants in the community, a development that prompted police to be drafted to the scene of the incident which subsequently led to the death of two PDP members.

Miffed by the murder, a PDP chieftain in the town and now state Deputy Chairman, Hon. Femi Bamisile, with a crowd of supporters stormed the government office in Ado Ekiti and accused the state government of complicity in the murder.

The affected police officers are, Mr Ameh Richard and Akinyode Olaiya ,  they were  said to have been found guilty of the murder of  two PDP members whose names were given as Kehinde Faluyi and Michael  Ipinlaye.

The trial judge, Justice Abiodun Adesodun who in his judgement yesterday, disclosed that there were sharp contradictions in the evidence adduced by the accused persons, which he said had made their evidence unreliable.

Justice Adesodun noted that the evidence by the prosecution counsel, Messrs Femi Onipede and  Omope Oluwanitemi were overwhelming and convincing enough for him to grant their  reliefs.

His words: “The prosecution counsel have proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and the accused persons are hereby sentenced to death by hanging”.

Blackface Is Angry With 2face For Not Inviting Him To Dubai

Blackface, one of the famous but defunct group, Plantatun Boiz, is not happy at the moment with Tuface, a former buddie and pal, for not sending him invitation to Dubai for the superlative wedding.

Blackface expressed his grievance recently on a social media; Twitter, when a fan asked him why he was not at the event. And his response was like “I no dey go where I no dey invited!”

From the look of things, it’s so obvious that the guy is not happy for being segregated to witness the wedding despite the fact that the song that actually made Tuface, The African Queen, was composed by him. This is really not good enough!

Back in the day, 2Face was one part of three-member boy band ‘Plantashun Boiz’. After releasing classics like “Knock me Off” and “You and I“, the group split amidst controversial circumstances in 2004. It seemed all members buried the hatchet however as the group re-united to release one final album ‘Plan B’ three years after the split.
