It’s already been one year since Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) went live with Nigeria’s premiere entertainment breaking news servicewww.thenetng.com!
Within the first year, the website has earned a reputation as a trusted journal – and reputable media platforms like Channels, The Guardian, The Punch, THISDAY, Vanguard and The Sun continue to regularly pick up leads, breaking news and exclusive pictures from the site.
www.thenetng.comhas become a part of our daily lives, with many – including young professionals, students, journalists and academics- regularly visiting to find out what’s up, who’s hot, and who’s not.
“It’s been a remarkable year; for good and bad reasons” Ayeni Adekunle , founder of NET’s parent company – BlackHouse Media, let on. “From Dagrin’s car crash to his unfortunate death; 9ice and Toni Payne’s separation, to the Kora Awards controversy, HipHopworld awards, Ashionye‘s baby, Terry G’s accident and Basketmouth’s swimming pool picture with. Sir Richard Branson, we have broken some of the biggest and most difficult stories of the year; all along sticking to the ethics of journalism even though we operate on the internet where it is easy to dump the rules and play reckless“.
Ayeni, who had worked with Encomium, THISDAY and The Punch before setting up NET, then declared, ‘And the success is obvious! Less than five months after we launched the website, we followed with a newspaper – another first in the entertainment industry. NET Newspaper, which debuted on April 26, is fast becoming a household name, with increasing circulation figures and spread across the country.’

There were plenty of goodwill messages from celebrities and industry stakeholders. R&B singer Djinee wrote on Twitter early Tuesday, “Big Shout out to @ayenithegreat on the anniversary of TheNETng. You will continue to reap the reward of your labour. Amen“.
A big congrats on NET’s first anniversary. Bigger things coming. Please keep up the good jobDarey wrote in a message NET’s board.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the website will be overhauled this weekend. “We’re coming up with a totally new look and feel; a simpler-but-exciting layout. The changes are a result of feedback we’ve gathered over the past months. And I’m hoping our readers would love it!Ayeni says.
An anniversary event, already tagged “CHAMPAGNE CONVERSATIONS” will hold at a later date.
