Just a year after signing on pop star, Davido, telecoms giant, MTN has signed on three past Project Fame winners and one finalist as ambassadors of its brand.
The recently signed PFWA alumni include, reigning pop sensation, Iyanya, soul singer, Praiz, R&B vocalists Chidinma and Mike Anyasodo (iMike) who were at one time or the other part of the MTN sponsored music reality show, Project Fame.
Iyanya expressed his excitement on twitter as he tweeted, ‘Done deal #endorsement #thankyouLord’.
NET tried to reach Chidinma’s management, Goretti Company for confirmation and a rep who responded said that they would get back to us on it.
Praiz could not be reached at press time, but a source close to the singer confirms the new development.
Sources close to Omo Baba Olowo say Davido’s contract with the telecoms company was also renewed as he will continue in his capacity as ambassador to the brand.
We could not immediately confirm figures, and durations of the contracts. But insiders say the move is a major change in policy for the company which had for years, avoided overt brand endorsements. Some believe it is possible the move is to prevent rival companies – especially Etisalat – from snatching these acts (except Davido) who are products of the MTN sponsored Project Fame Academy in the on-going- portability war.
