The
Nigerian Entertainment Conference which showcased very interesting
sessions ranging from the areas of music, movies, business, media and
CSR, ended with some of Nigeria’s most notable entertainment
practitioners receiving the inaugural NET honours (Honorary awards).
A total number of nineteen awards were
given to select numbers of honourees who have performed very well in
their respective fields. They included veteran music producer, Nelson Brown, Afro beat legend, Femi Kuti and African pop icon, 2Face Idibia.
Others are Niteshift Coliseum creator, Ken Caleb-Olumese, Juju legend, King Sunny Ade, godfather of Nigerian comedy, Ali Baba, Fuji icon, K1, revered movie makers, Amaka Igwe and Tunde Kelani, distinguished publishers, Kunle Bakare, Mayor Akinpelu and Femi Akintunde Johnson, music superstars, Dbanj and Don Jazzy, showbiz practitioner, Edi Lawani, renowned music label and media bosses, Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye as well as Nigeria’s number one DJ, DJ Jimmy Jatt.

Accomplished producer and hit-maker, Nelson Brown was responsible for
most of the biggest hits of the nineties, giving millions of Nigerians
and musicians of the time, the soundtrack of their lives for many years.
Nelson Brown, recipient of the inaugural NET Honours, is being
recognised tonight, for his great musical work, philanthropy and for
using his talent to empower many musicians who would otherwise have been
unable to employ his services.
KEN CALEB OLUMESE
The Guv’Nur of Niteshift Coliseum, the grand daddy of the night club
industry is one of Nigeria’s most consistent entertainment icons,
turning night clubbing into a respectable business, and teaching many
the ropes for many years.

K1 THE ULTIMATE
KWAM 1, the revolutionary Fuji musician changed the face of modern Fuji
music, bringing the art to new, sophisticated audiences, while helping
change the perception of the elites and corporate Nigeria about a street
genre.

DJ JIMMY JATT
We’re decorating DJ Jimmy JATT, with the special NET Honours tonight,
for his tremendous role, in the development of modern Nigerian music and
especially pop/hip-hop culture, and his strong influence on the
acceptability of the art of disc jockeying in Nigeria. A teacher and
mentor to many, he continues to hold the ladder for upcomers, helping
hundreds kick start their careers.
