The first phase of the Eko Atlantic City was inaugurated in Lagos yesterday at an event which attracted some top dignitaries. Eko Atlantic City is a planned district of Lagos that is being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean. Upon completion, the new island which is still under development is anticipating 400,000 residents and a daily flow of 250,000 commuters. Eko Atlantic City is a new city born from the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos. The new 5-million-square-metre city, is to be the first modern smart city in Africa to be built on reclaimed land from the Atlantic Ocean.
