An eye witness told P.M.NEWS that the 15-man gang stormed the hotel at about 2.45a.m. and started shooting.

They gained entrance into the hotel by scaling the hotel fence from the building beside the hotel.

“They shot and killed the manager identified as Anamu and a policeman attached to the hotel from Mopol 22, Ikeja, while the other policemen narrowly escaped,” said the source.

But before they could rob lodgers in the hotel, the police from Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu led by the Commander, ACP Ibrahim Kaoje, raced to the hotel and engaged the robbers in a gun battle.

An ASP identified as Sunday Enebeli was seriously injured during the gun battle with the robbers and he was  rushed to a hospital where doctors are battling to save his life.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the incident happened a week after the management of the hotel changed the internal security they earlier engaged and replaced them with policemen.

When P.M.NEWS visited the hotel, the workers confirmed the robbery attack and showed our reporter a car they damaged with their bullets and the room where the policeman was killed.

The body of the victims have been deposited at Ikeja General Hospital for autopsy.

When P.M.NEWS visited Area ‘M’ Command, the area commander was not around to comment on the attack.

However, police sources confirmed the incident and told our reporter that the police have commenced intensive investigation of the incident.
