Nigeria Entertainment Tit-Bits: Darey, Kirdashian On the Roll
E
kaale Nigeria! With that terse salutation in Yoruba, American reality
television star, Kim Kardashian opened last Sunday, 17 February
‘Love…Like A Movie’ concert of R&B star Darey Art Alade.
The
packed concert, held at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites,
Victoria Island, Lagos, amidst blinding fireworks, hair-raising
acrobatics, and all the special effects one can think of, saw the host,
Darey, digging from his rich repertoire. And for over three hours, Darey
pulled all the stops to make sure guests got the experience of a
lifetime.
He opened the gig with the theme track, ‘Love Like A
Movie’ followed by ‘Sisi Eko’. He later performed the ballad ‘Not The
Girl’ before he did a rendition of ‘Lady in Red’ by Chris Deburgh and
Boys II Men’s ‘I’ll Make Love To You’ and ‘End of The Road’ (featuring
four of Nigeria’s greatest voices Banky W, Timi Dakolo, Praiz and Tolu).
He closed the remarkable night with the track, Asiko, featuring Ice
Prince and MoEazy.
“We thought it worthwhile to partner with Darey
on this event which is premium, stylish and extraordinary —values which
are associated with Fayrouz. The show has brought a new dimension to
the music and entertainment industry in Nigeria. It is a marriage of two
different and unconventional brands which has offered maximum
satisfaction to consumers and guests,” said Walter Drenth, Marketing
Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc.
The concert also featured
performances by 2Face Idibia, Waje, Ice Prince, Kaffy, Zaina, FARFADAIS
and Circque du Soleil by KITONB an extreme theatre group.
Commenting
on the show, the producer, Darey disclosed that he was able to make a
new statement that offered music lovers the best of music, art, drama
and dance with live performances. ‘’The show would go down in the
history of concerts in Nigeria as the best. I mean it,’’ commented film
producer Charles Novia. While top blogger, Linda Ikeji said of the show:
“Darey’s show was incredible. The best show I’ve seen in Nigeria…hands
down.”
Kim Kardashian was flown in to co-host the platinum red
carpet with Darey, attend the special LLAM dinner and open the show that
stole everyone’s attention.
